Pam Wood, MA, ATR
I am an art therapist, spiritual director and retreat facilitator based in Portland, Oregon. I have facilitated experiential workshops and retreats nationally which explore the interconnections between ecological and social justice, creativity, and engaged spirituality. My deepest calling is to create experiences which expand one's sense of connection to all of creation, deepen the motivation to act on behalf of our world, and create a positive and hopeful vision for a sustainable future. My work is inspired by the Joanna Macy, Thomas Berry, and Brian Swimme. I coauthored the book Care for Creation: A Franciscan Spirituality of the Earth with Ilia Delio, OSF and Keith Douglass Warner, OFM.
I hold a Masters in Art Therapy from Marylhurst University. I earned my ATR (Art Therapist-Registered), which is the national registration process for art therapists, requiring 1000 supervised post-Masters clinical hours. I have 18 years of experience working with children, teens and families in day treatment, community mental health and school settings. I have a passion for working with teens, and started the first Earth Scouts group in the Northwest (co-ed scouting based on the Earth Charter). I have years of experience leading children and adults on hiking, climbing and backpacking adventures, and helping individuals to overcome fears and barriers to connecting with themselves and nature. I have offered workshops and retreats for churches, non-profit organizations, staff teams, and conferences, including:
